A Little Bit About the Area

Golf 1 Residential is on the first hole at White Sands Golf and Beach Resort and Golf 5 Residential is on the fifth. A beautiful new resort on the popular east coast, White Sands is in the Bavaro region and just a few minutes’ walk from the palm-fringed beache which seems to go on forever.

These immaculately groomed beaches around Bavaro and Punta Cana are silky-fine white sand and the crystal clear, turquoise water is warm and calm – truly paradise.

White Sands is a 15 minute drive to the town centre and less than 30 minutes to the modern Punta Cana International Airport.  There are also airports at La Romana (1.5 hrs away) and Santo Domingo (3.5 hrs away).

You’ll find plenty of shops and amenities in the resort complex but if you fancy a change of scenery, there’s shopping at nearby Plazo Bavaro and Palma Real Village.

The superb 18 hole golf course was designed by Pepe Gancedo, the six times Spanish Champion, and offers owners a full family membership of just $1,000 per year – with no extra green fees

Every kind of water sport imaginable is available at White Sands and all along the beach. There’s plenty of opportunity to try the many other activities, from jeep safaris, fishing trips, pony trekking, quad biking, inland expeditions, a visit to Manati Park - a wildlife ecological/adventure park.

If you have the urge to explore Dom Rep you can rent a 4x4, and take off for the day. You’ll discover an amazing world of tropical wilderness, caves, mangroves, deserted  beaches

And if all that’s not enough, the temperatures ranges between 26-34 degrees centigrade, with an extremely low annual rainfall.

Attractions & Beach Life

There is so much to see and do in the Dominican Republic and this is by no means an exhaustive list but we hope it gives you an idea of the variety of activities and excursions available to you.  You’ll find more about things to do in the local area info section.

The beach at Punta Cana is the No. 1 attraction, stretching an amazing 30 miles. Some of the best known spots are Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Cabeza de Toro, Bavaro, El Cortecito, Arena Gorda, Macao and Uvero Alto.

Luxury beach clubs right on the beach

You can walk freely along the beach strip from one hotel’s beach to another, as Dominican law ensures that all the beaches are for the enjoyment of everyone and hotels etc cannot restrict access.

For the water babies amongst you, there’s an amazing choice of water sports options offered right on the beach at White Sands - sports fishing, parasailing, diving, snorkeling, flying boats, banana boating, kayaking, windsurfing,

And if you don’t fancy getting your feet wet, how about: speed boat hire, catamaran boat rides, double-decker party boats, restaurant dining at sunset on the sea, glass bottom boat trips.

There are plenty of boat taxis that will take you from one beach to another via the sea.

Non beach activities

For a little more “action” you can choose from safari-type excursions on four-wheel bikes, buggy rides, jeep safaris, monster trucks or helicopter rides.

There are several companies offering adventure tours that take you into the real Dom Rep where you can soak up the tropical wilderness and the amazing natural beauty.

Visit an old colonial or countryside home where you’ll be served a typical Dominican lunch. You’ll have the opportunity to see how the old estates worked and find out about tropical crops and farming.

Horse riding is very popular in Punta Cana where you ride along deserted white-sand beaches and through the gentle surf.

Marinarium is a marine park on the sea which offers the ruffty-tuffty visitor a chance to snorkel with sharks and rays.

Dolphin Island is just a short boat ride from White Sands where you’ll learn all about these highly intelligent and gentle mammals. You’ll also have the opportunity to swim with trained dolphins right in the sea.

Manati Park at Bavaro is a large ecology park and reserve with a large variety of birds, sea life and reptiles.  Displays with parrots, dolphins and horses are included in the admission fee. Free shuttle buses run to and from the main hotels in the area.

Just 15 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport is the Punta Cana Ecological Reserve. You can take a guided tour through tropical flora and learn about your surroundings as you walk through a real jungle

And if you feel the need for a cool down at the end of your tour, you’ll be able to bathe in a cool spring along with your fellow tourers. Certainly a memorable experience.
